of the Sand Dollar This watercolor painting was inspired after
getting back from a trip to Virginia Beach were I had found about 50 sand
dollars. I had heard of the legend somewhere and wrote a poem about it to
go with this painting. The poem is on a separate in calligraphy (not
shown). It covered part of the
doves, water and beach near the middle of the painting.

From the depths of the sea, a living shell is found.
It’s a tale of sorrow and story of truth, of which God’s love does
abound. The star which guided to his birth, takes center stage on this
living earth. Five wounds inflicted are sad but true, given by nails and a
spear, he died for you. Broken apart comes forth a dove, five in all to
show his love. This dollar made not of silver, nor of gold, is a priceless
story . . . the greatest told. Jesus the creator, his creation still
speaks, of his love for us, that we all may seek.
